Eagala Model Equine-Assisted Therapy
Have you struggled to find the answers you are looking for in counselling or talking therapy?
Maybe this has taken you so far, but now you feel stuck. Or perhaps negative experiences of counselling or talking therapy previously have made you reluctant to try again.
The Eagala Model of Equine-assisted therapy invites you into an alternative, authentic space, without expectation or judgement. It moves beyond office (or Zoom) based conversations about inner thoughts and feelings, and towards experiential learning about yourself and others. Equine-assisted therapy can show you the insights you are seeking, through observations or interactions with the horses, either during sessions or as you process these experiences afterwards.

How does it work?
Horses are highly intuitive and sensitive beings who connect with us in ways that give us understanding about our behaviours and emotions. They can reflect back to you things that you otherwise don’t see in yourself or in your life. Working with horses in this way, you gain new perspectives that create life changes. This is particularly helpful if you find it difficult to identify or verbally articulate what you want or need from counselling.
There is a growing evidence base for Eagala Model equine-assisted therapy and personal development services, more information about this can be found here Research – EAGALA
I’m scared of horses…I’m not sure about this?
Firstly …The Eagala Model is NOT about riding horses, you will have your feet firmly on the ground at all times, and you are in full control of how close or far away from the horses you are. Your facilitating team, Naomi (Eagala Certified since 2016) and Lisa (Eagala Certified since 2020) are with you for every step of your journey, keeping you safe, both physically and emotionally.

Caspian horses
The Caspian horse team lives authentically as a herd, in their natural environment from birth, without any of the traditional horse-human interactions such as riding, showing or carriage driving. This makes them superb partners in the therapy team as they have no prior training to influence their natural responses to human behaviours and emotions. They are a naturally curious and friendly breed, and their smaller stature makes them less intimidating than larger breeds for ground based equine-assisted therapy.
