Counselling can help with stress, anxiety, depression/low mood, or to improve self confidence.
Sometimes just talking things through, feeling heard and understood can make a significant difference.
When I work with clients in this way, I am listening actively and responding empathically. Creating a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement. Together we might find new perspectives on things you may be feeling ‘stuck’ with, which can help you to move forward.
My initial counselling training with Relate has provided me with a systemic practice base to work with. This means looking at the whole picture so to speak, understanding you in the context of the world around you including your family, friends, work and relationships, and the influences these have on you as an individual, both currently, and from the past.
Occasionally, these may be out of our immediate awareness, and this approach can help you identify any of these influences that may be having a negative impact on your life today.
I then went on to complete a BA (Hons) in Counselling Solutions which has equipped me with more solution focused techniques to support change and growth. This could be for example, identifying anxiety provoking situations, and applying Cognitive Behavioural techniques to help you feel calmer and more in control.
